Activities at St Josephs

Our home has a fulltime activities co-ordinator who, along with additional staff, promote the participation of games and activities. We host a variety of outings and excursions for all individuals on a regular basis thus encouraging residents to maintain their independence.

We have a selection of games, memorabilia and equipment specifically suited to people with sight and hearing impairments. Furthermore, residents are provided with mental stimulation on a one to one and/or group basis by using the Multi-Sensory (Snoezelen) Room.

The home hosts a variety of events including fund raising for local charity groups which enables residents to remain involved with the local community.

Realising the importance of having fun...

Recreation and games are important and help maintain our residents happiness and health... We have structured and less formal recreational events managed by the activities co-ordinator.

A Multi-Sensory Room

snoezelen room
Snoezelen or controlled multisensory stimulation is used for people with mental disabilities including dementia, and involves exposing them to a soothing and stimulating environment, the "snoezelen room". These rooms are specially designed to deliver stimuli to various senses, using lighting effects, color, sounds, music, scents, etc.
